How to Shoot a Perfect Crowdfunding Pitch Video

Shooting a good pitch video is not as difficult as many might think.  The key is to sit down and draw up a story board that details 10 – 15 frames or scenes that you would like to see captured on film.  Think about the background, your clothing and your appearance.

You can usually find a local videographer who can shoot, edit and produce three minutes for around $100 per minute. Most offer or have access to a green screen, which allows you to shoot the video in a studio then drop in a background of your choice.

If you do it yourself, make sure the lighting is good and use a wireless microphone that plugs into the video camera or a mixing board if you have one.  Not sure, which one is best? Upload your videos complete with an SEO enhanced descriptive paragraph complete with the URL to your crowdfunding campaign or company website.  This is equivalent to shooting a free, searchable TV commercial that reaches a worldwide audience.

Just as you would do a competitive analysis on competing crowdfunding profiles, do lots of searches on every keyword you can think to see what YouTube or other video sharing sites will turn up.  Watch how the do their graphics that scroll across the bottom of the screen, the music they chose and how many hits they have to date.  It is not uncommon for a video with lots of humor or people doing crazy things go viral.

Don’t forget to close by offering your most valuable perks. Mention that the best early bird deals will go fast and remember to use the same language and tips outlined on the How to Write a Great Crowdfunding Campaign page.

Below are some great links to start with, but it would be wise to Google “How to Shoot a Crowdfunding Pitch Video” or “How to Pitch Venture Capitalists” and read as many how to articles as possible.  You need to pitch a great story with passion, but backed up with facts, figures, industry growth, and predicted return on investment numbers.
