How to Create an Informational
Crowdfunding Campaign FAQ Sheet

By Robert Hoskins

Writing a Fully Developed FAQ Sheet:

The best way to approach writing a quality Frequently Asked Question sheet is to answer the who, what, where, when and how much does it cost about your company’s crowdfunding campaign.  These are the first five answers that any reporter will need to write a story.

If your company has any sales representatives, the best place to start is with them.  Sales reps are the ones who are pounding the pavement every day trying to close some deals.  They will know exactly what most customers want to know about the company and its products and services. Start by asking the entire sales team what questions they get asked on a regular basis.

Next work with a marketing or PR professional to provide perfectly tailored answers to every question. The FAQ sheet should contain every question good or bad.  The good FAQs should be made available to public. The bad FAQs should be kept internal, but will come in handy when reporters or customers ask very difficult questions. Not only will FAQ sheets provide a very polished answers, but they will also provide your company with consistent messaging from all employees from the janitor all the way up to the CEO.

FAQ sheets are also great for leading customers and reporters down a certain path.  All reporters prepare for interviews by lining up a series of questions.  Some have a standard set of questions that ask during every interview. Others will research trending topics in press.  But when it comes to your company or crowdfunding campaign, it is much better to provide them with a list of questions you want them to ask you versus letting their minds wonder.

Another great way is to let close friends and business associates read through your crowdfunding profile or business website.  The less they know about your company the better.  This will provide the best set of questions that will resemble those from future customers who meet your company for the first time.

FAQ sheets are also great for the marketing team.  All marketing materials, press kit information, and websites should be written specifically to answer all questions that a new customer might have. Doing so will remove any fears or doubts that a customer might have a will result in customer that is ready to make a purchase decision on their first contact.
