Crowdfunding Management Team

How to Build a Strong Crowdfunding Management Team
Crowdfunding campaigns with a management team raise 38% more than those with none. Many donors will research a crowdfunding campaign’s potential by researching the founders and team members’ social media profiles on FacebookLinkedinTwitter and other social media networks.

This is why building a large social media network with lots friends, followers and network members is so important. The larger the crowd the more weight and clout that campaign managers can display.  In addition, social media profiles such as Linkedin.com have the ability to reveal the campaign management team’s true credentials and work related experience that may or may not be able to meet the crowdfunding campaign’s goals and objectives.

If a crowdfunding campaign’s management team is unable to setup a Facebook page, provide a credentialed resume on LinkedIn or set up a Twitter account with several hundred relevant industry tweets, one has to wonder if the team has the capabilities to fulfill the strenuous demands of providing the rewards and perks promised by the fundraising campaign.

One thing to look for is team diversity.  Just like evaluating a corporation’s executive management team, it is much better to amass a team that includes legal, finance, technology and marketing experts.  A team of all engineers with no marketing experts might have trouble bring a great product to market.  A team of marketers with no wireless app development experience may not be able to deliver a work flow business development app because they have zero application development skills.

Building a solid business development team is extremely important. Having the breadth and depth of team members ranging from young entrepreneurs to experienced veterans with 25 to 30 years of experience can be the difference between success and failure.

Young people bring fresh blood and ingenuity.  Older, more experienced people have been around long enough to learn from the years of successes and failures they have witnessed throughout their lifetime. Combining these forces can build a team that has serious real world potential.

Not much is written about how to build a good crowdfunding team, but there are quite a few articles on how to build and Advisory Board or Advisory Committee, which is basically the same exact process.
